Terms of Use
Last updated: 30 September 2026
A basic, honest starting point for a small project — not a substitute for legal advice.
Have this reviewed by a lawyer before treating it as binding for a real user base.
Using the site
Morabaraba is provided free of charge, as-is, with no uptime or availability guarantee. You can
play as a guest or create a free account. By using the site you agree to these terms and to the
Privacy Policy.
Accounts
- Give a real email address you control; we use it to verify your account, reset your password and send tournament notices.
- Keep your credentials confidential. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
- One person, one account. Don't create extra accounts to gain an advantage in rankings or tournaments.
- Your display name is shown publicly, together with your record and online status. Don't use a name that
impersonates someone else or is abusive, hateful or sexually explicit.
Acceptable use
Don't use the site to:
- Harass, impersonate, or abuse other players
- Attempt to bypass, disable, or interfere with the site's security, rate limits or game rules
- Use bots, scripts or engines to play for you, or to play on another person's account, or to manipulate the
leaderboard or tournament results
- Collude with another player to fix a result, or deliberately lose to alter rankings or brackets
- Attempt to access another account or another player's data without authorization
- Run load tests or automated scans against the live site without the administrator's permission
If you find a bug or security problem, please report it to the administrator rather than exploiting it.
We may suspend or delete accounts that violate these terms, and may void affected results.
Games and results
- The server decides what is legal and what the result is. The rules include house rules: missing a mill you could have formed
costs you three pieces, a double mill removes two, and a player with no legal move has their turn skipped.
- Leaving a live online match, including pressing Exit Game, forfeits it and credits your opponent with the win.
Restarting a vs. AI game in progress is recorded as a loss.
- In timed games a player's clock runs only on their own turn; running out of time loses the game.
- Online play relies on your connection. We're not responsible for results affected by disconnections, lag or outages.
- Stats and rankings are for fun and may be corrected or reset if errors or cheating are found.
Tournaments
- Tournaments are official events organised by site administrators. Formats, dates, daily playing windows and time controls are
set by the administrators, and match times are scheduled automatically within those windows.
- You must join before registration closes. A tournament with a registration deadline starts automatically when it passes,
and needs at least two entrants to start.
- A match's Play button opens 10 minutes before its start time. If you haven't joined within 2 minutes of the start you are
eliminated and your opponent advances. If neither player joins, the match is void and both are eliminated.
When your opponent only becomes known after the scheduled time, the window is counted from that moment.
- Notices are sent by email and shown on the site, but it's your responsibility to check the schedule and be ready on time.
- Administrators may correct a recorded result, reschedule a round, or cancel or delete a tournament, for example after an outage or
a rules breach. Their decisions are final.
- Final placings are worked out automatically. Ties in a round are broken by registration order.
- Prizes are whatever the administrators announce for a tournament, and are awarded at their discretion. They may be withheld
from anyone who breaks these terms.
Your content and data
Your display name is the only content you publish. You give us permission to show it as described in the Privacy Policy.
You can delete your account and its associated data at any time from Settings; see the Privacy Policy for what remains afterwards.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend, restrict or delete accounts, or remove entrants from tournaments, for breaking these terms or to protect the site.
You can stop using the site, or delete your account, whenever you like.
No warranty
The software is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind. We don't guarantee the site will
be available, error-free, or that game, account or tournament data won't be lost. See the project's LICENSE file
for the disclaimer that applies to the underlying code.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, the operator isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the site,
including lost games, lost tournament entries or prizes not received because of downtime or errors.
Changes
These terms may change as the project evolves. The date at the top shows the latest version; continued use of the site after a change
means you accept the updated terms.
Contact
Questions about these terms can be sent to the site administrator listed on the project's
repository.
